How to redirect output to standard output and file

sometimes we want to redirect output of one command to standard output(console) and to a file also for this we can use tee coomand.for example

[root@localhost ~]# grep -ai "root" /etc/passwd | tee /tmp/my_file
root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash
operator:x:11:0:operator:/root:/sbin/nologin
[root@localhost ~]#

now lets check /tmp/my_file

[root@localhost ~]# cat /tmp/my_file
root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash
operator:x:11:0:operator:/root:/sbin/nologin
[root@localhost ~]#
